Hungary has been a UNESCO member since 14 September 1948. In cooperation with the other national commissions of the world, the governmental and non-governmental organizations, civil society and educational institutions, the Hungarian National Commission for UNESCO's goal is to help the operation of UNESCO in the areas of education, science, culture and communication-information, as well as to foster promotion of Hungarian science and culture through the various channels of the world organization.
